SUPPORT COST REDUCTION AND SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS
As you work closely with your power study provider to analyze and interpret energy consumption
data, you’ll begin to identify opportunities to reduce energy costs while maintaining or even
increasing productivity.
The power study can also help align your energy strategy with corporate sustainability goals
and initiatives. This includes better understanding of your fleet’s CO2 emissions and identifying
opportunities to reduce your fleet’s carbon footprint. This type of data can help position your
operation to take advantage of potential incentives and energy rebates from local utility providers
and municipalities that reward sustainability and energy reduction efforts.

ESTABLISH A BASELINE FOR ENHANCEMENTS
AND GROWTH
Finally, a power study should be more than a “one and done”
requirement. A key part of strengthening your focus on forklift
power management is continually monitoring and understanding
how your forklift fleet is being used and evolving.
This will ensure your power requirements continue to be met
as your operations and fleet change, especially if there are
modifications to pallet movement, racking, or even the weight of
the product being moved. You also can help ensure your energy
infrastructure continues to support your changing needs and does
not present any barriers to growth.
Power study results can provide a baseline against operational
goals and measure continuing progress against those goals. You
should conduct regular reviews of your battery management
efforts and power strategy and evaluate progress toward
projected and proposed changes to your operations. Armed
with this information, you can continue to make informed and
impactful decisions about your power needs and energy strategy.
In Chapter Three, we’ll discuss the factors involved in choosing the right batteries for your
forklifts and applications.
