Crown’s Facilities and Processes
Consolidation and
conservation improve
efficiency
In Suzhou, China, Crown made lean
improvements in welding and machining processes that reduced lift truck
travel within the facility by 178 km/year
and saved 40 m2 of space. The effort
also improved part flow, quality of parts
and operator ergonomics, making the
processes more efficient.

were installed to allow better control of
the rinse water flow rate. This resulted
in a 70 percent reduction of water use
saving nearly 1.9 million gallons per
year. In addition, half of the remaining
water used in the system (approximately
390,000 gallons) is now reused.

Crown Suzhou also reduced water use

the environment. The 26,000m2 brownfield facility provides more opportunity
for face-to-face employee communication and is conveniently located next to
